    • What is Jutsu Creative?
    • Jutsu Creative is a digital design and development firm based in Houston, Texas. We do everything from websites to apps to print work. Jutsu Creative used to be called Cypher Design Studio. We changed our name for a stronger brand identity and to better reflect what we do.

    • What does "Jutsu" mean?
    • "Jutsu" is a Japanese suffix that roughly translates as "the art of".

You might have heard it in the context of martial arts. "Ninjutsu" roughly translates as "the art of stealth", and "jujutsu" roughly translates as "the art of yielding". But "jutsu" isn't just used in martial arts. For example, the term "gijutsu" means "the art of technology". Our work involves many different arts, so "jutsu" is a great fit!

Even the connotation of "jutsu" fits what we do. You see there are actually two words in Japanese that mean "the art of": "jutsu" and "do". In fact, you're probably more familiar with the term "judo" than "jujutsu". The difference is that "do" implies art for art's sake whereas "jutsu" implies art for practical purposes. While we do some art for art's sake in our spare time, our work aims to solve real-world problems with creativity - it's pure creative-jutsu.

    • That's great, but why Japanese?
    • Because Japanese stuff is cool! Sushi, robots, sushi-making robots...you really can't go wrong.

    • How much do you charge?
    • We don't have a set menu of prices because every project is unique. We offer a free initial consultation so that we can understand the goals of your project. Then we prepare a proposal that outlines the project parameters, the services we would provide, and our estimated fee.

We also offer hourly rate pricing for exploratory, open-ended, and/or ongoing projects.

    • How long will it take?
    • That depends on the scope and complexity of the project. If you like, we can attempt to inlcude target dates in our proposal.

    • Who works at Jutsu?
    • Jutsu is owned and operated by Scott Allen. Scott will be your primary contact person and in many cases will be the person performing your project. For large projects, Scott may bring in other designers and/or developers to help out.

    • Do you do Wordpress websites?
    • Yes we do! We do both new Wordpress sites as well as Wordpress site redesigns. For clients that want a simpler content management option with robust social media integration, we also build sites using Stitch.
